So this is kinda huge. But I'm Still Confused.

But honestly, and perhaps this is just because I am not Catholic, it makes the Catholic teachings even MORE confusing to me than they were before.

I mean, on the one hand, you somewhat (... "serious grounds to hope that children who die without being baptized can go to heaven.") resolve this conflict of newborns being sinners and needing the baptismal ordinance. But on the other hand, you've opened up 20 NEW conflicts by renouncing that "belief". Plus, it just gets so confusing on what exactly is a "belief" and what is "formal doctrine" vs. what is taught in Catechism lessons, etc, etc. To top it all off, the announcement "does not carry the authority of a papal encyclical or even the weight of a formal document from the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith". However, it was "approved by the Pope on Jan. 19 and was published on the Internet."

My head hurts.

Thank goodness for modern day prophets.
