My little Claremont is all grown up!

It's true. Haven't you heard?

Growing up in Claremont was boring. In a good way. In less than ten minutes I could be from my driveway to the Glasshouse. (Believe you me, I was there a LOT.) Within 45 min to an hour I could be at either the beach, the mountains or downtown L.A. In fact, the local mountains were less than 10 minutes. Things to do were close. But they were not in Claremont.

The hippies hung out at The Folk Music Center, (and I'd occasionally pick up guitar strings there) to try and catch a glimpse of Ben Harper's grandpa. You could get good music at Rhino Records. Snoop Dogg resided in a North Claremont home . (Before being kicked out for breaking city ordinances against dog fighting.)

That was about it. Quiet little suburb. College town. Strict fast food restrictions, no overnight parking, corrupt city politicians. I could go on and on about Claremont. (ok, I already am...)

Anyhow, living in surrounding communities as a semi-adult I've been able to watch Claremont grow up these past few years!! I mean, have you seen this???? Look how fun this is. Then there was that "5th best place to live" thing in Money Magazine. What is going on here???!! Even my beloved Huell has made some visits to Claremont!!

So Claremont started some advertising campaign to try and convince surrounding communities that they really are a fun city to visit after all. At least to shop. And that, my friends, is how hubby and I became famous from the knees down. (Aren't the voices great, too? ;)

This one's my fave:

See, Claremont's junior high drama classes are obviously a real asset to the community!! I mean, did you SEE how naturally I walked in with that shopping bag???

P.S. The chick driving the car is NOT me... I'm just her leg double. ;)
