Bloom Where You Are Planted

The visiting teaching thing got me thinking.

Sometimes we are put in lame situations. Like VT set-ups that seem SO obviously uninspired. I mean, SO obvious. And it makes me wonder..... is it really as uninspired as I think it is? And if it IS.... does it matter? Could I flourish as much as I would have in a totally inspired, meant for me situation? Or is it just one of those stumbling blocks I've got to muddle through/sit out? Or, perhaps, ALL of those stumbling blocks present an opportunity to flourish?

Because the optimist in me says, "Of course you have the opportunity to flourish!! Probably MORE so in the crappy situation than in easier ones."

The pessimist in me says, "Do you REALLY believe that every little life event is micro-managed by the Lord? Sometimes lame things JUST happen."

Like when my almost 4 year old is throwing a raging tantrum including SCREAMING, kicking and fake-spitting at me, because I won't let her run around our complex with the neighborhood rapscallions who are almost twice her age. And it's taking EVERYTHING in me to keep it "together" and not do something that would result in a call to CPS being made. I sit there and I think to myself..... "Really? Is this necessary? Can I please not go through this?? I don't see it, Heavenly Father. I don't see how this is HELPING me become better. It's just making me irritated and tired."

The optimist and pessimist in me duke it out upstairs.

Then that phrase pops into my head:

BLOOM Where Your Are Planted.

Not even just "grow", or how about "survive"?.... but BLOOM.
Drat.
